New Analytical Power at GÜTMAM: Our ICP-OES Device is Now Commissioned!
30 September 2025 | 13:48

Our central laboratory, GÜTMAM, has added the state-of-the-art Analytik Jena Plasma Quant 9100 ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectroscopy) instrument to its inventory.

This advanced instrument offers a significant advantage to our researchers thanks to its ability to analyze numerous elements simultaneously in solid, liquid, and semi-solid samples quickly and with high accuracy.

With ICP-OES:

Reliable detection of trace elements,

Detailed content analysis in environmental, biological, and industrial samples,

Precise measurements over a wide dynamic range,

Analysis of samples in a short time with high reliability is possible.

Our new device further enhances the robust infrastructure that GÜTMAM offers to researchers. We invite all our academics and researchers to utilize the ICP-OES device in their studies.

🔬 ICP-OES is one of the most widely used techniques for the analysis of trace elements.

The sample (in liquid or gaseous form) is drawn into the system and converted into an aerosol via a nebulizer.

The aerosol is sprayed into an argon plasma at approximately 10,000 K.

In the plasma, atoms and ions are excited with high energy and emit light at their characteristic wavelengths.

The optical system simultaneously measures the intensity of this radiation in the 160–900 nm range.

Thus, the type and quantity of elements in the sample are determined with high precision.

Note: For the analysis of solid samples, pre-treatment such as extraction or microwave digestion is required. ICP-OES is suitable for the determination of almost all metallic elements. The determination sensitivity and detection limit of each element are different. Hydride systems are used for the analysis of elements that react with hydrogen to form gaseous hydrides. They provide an advantage, especially in the analysis of Arsenic (As), Selenium (Se), and Mercury (Hg), which require low detection limits.
